The Spendor A9 is a full-size 3-way
floor standing loudspeaker. It has the resolution, dynamic range, and
low frequency extension to realise the breathtaking detail which the
finest digital media servers can now deliver from well-recorded
hi-resolution uncompressed audio source material.
The wide-surround tweeter
with bi-elliptical acoustic lens technology is combined with a new
Spendor 15cm mid-range driver and two specifically designed 18cmKevlar®
composite cone bass drivers with magnesium alloy chassis and advanced
motor systems.
Spendors proven dynamic
damping system reduces cabinet resonance to a minimum, whilst the fourth
generation Spendor linear flow port guarantees consistent high quality
bass in almost any room.
"The A9 is one of the exceptions. Its tonal balance and dynamic range benefit a huge range of musical styles."
"As you might expect given the Spendor heritage, detail and imaging are first rate."
"It ticks all the boxes, yes, but
also presents music with a charm and poise that is rare in audio of any
price. That stays with you. I would imagine that in 20 years time, when
all the shiny ‘must have’ loudspeakers of 2010 are long forgotten, there
will still be a lot of people happily playing music through their
Spendor A9s. That might just make it the best investment in audio around
today; not just in future resale values, but because these are the sort
of loudspeakers that get handed down from father to son. That’s how
good they are."

"Up and running, the A9's bass is taut and agile,
perhaps trading sheer quantity for the ability to track a fast moving
bassline with precision... Notes are tightly defined with no overhang, while bass textures are beautifully described."
"Move up the frequency range and these speakers continue to impress. Voices display intimacy and
insight, while high frequency detail comes through with pristine
clarity, much bite and lacks nothing for refinement. There's an
impressive amount of communication and an unswerving ability to reveal
the inner workings of a recording."
"Pleasingly, however, the A9 hasn't lost the
naturalness of past Spendor models, and it's that quality, more than any
other, that separates this floorstander from its rivals."
"Amazingly clean and transparent sound, agility and seamless integration."
